Ground Zero – A description of my studio

At this point I feel like I should give a brief description of my studio apartment for reference later on. You can skip ahead to the beginning of chapter 1 if you wish.

studio

It’s kind of old but that gives it a bit of a rustic kind of feel, dark wood floorboards, and standard red brick walls.

Only two windows which are large ones at the front on either side of the wall. Pretty high roof as expected of studio, all in all pretty typical. It’s on the top level of a shop that overlooks a not so busy street.

I access via stairs from the rear, as you walk in there’s a kind of mini split level landing area where I put all my shoes, immediately to my right is queen bed, bedsides, closet, etc., I really love sleep, so I splurged a bit on the bed when I was earning decent money and have no regrets, pillow top plus I have foam underlay so feels like sleeping on a pile of kittens.

Along the right wall is my 42in Samsung sitting on a entertainment unit (bought one of those cheap furniture packages when I first moved out, IKEA isn’t really common over here but its all flatpacked shit from an Australian equivalent). Facing the TV is my chaise (L shaped) brown couch, its made out of a suede/felt sort of material, there’s really thick wooly sort of rug on the ground between the two.

Up the back right of the room is the kitchen, it extends across 2/3 of backwall, standard sort of setup, freestanding stove/oven, pantry blah blah. Where the kitchen ends the bathroom starts, it’s a sort of room inside the main room if you get what I mean, it takes up the remaining 1/3 of back wall, inside is toilet, washing machine with dryer above it, sink and a shower/spabath. Showerbath is fairly modern and deep… deep enough that it has a step up into it and no curtain or anything around it, also when I say spa, I don’t mean like outdoor spa type massaging jets everywhere or anything, just those normal sort of water jets that you see in indoor baths, I don’t think I have actually even used it.

Left wall has my battle station, nice modern glass top desk, two monitors, desktop rig is nothing special, handles most things just fine. Left corner of room is just random things, cupboard full of stuff, my longboard, boxes of stuff I never unpacked when I moved in, etc.
